If you’re in NYC….

…get ready for  a terrific documentary opening here on August 1: America the Beautiful.

More about it in a little while, but I’d strongly urge anyone interested in media, magazines, celebrity or fashion to check it out.

  1. Joseph,

When I post a review next week, I will make some reference to India too…..

    Janet,

Thanks for stopping by! Great to hear about the recipe, thanks! And what a great mix that seems to be, as your dog is beautiful!

I cried in unison with two sisters who were total strangers but sitting next to me in the cinama at KKHH years ago, and, inspite of having met Anupama and Vikram several times and knowing that 1942 is a “home product”, so to speak, it’s one of the classics that I haven’t seen yet, but I must, as I’m a big Manisha Koirala fan.

  2. Hi there,

I will definitely go see AtB, it sounds great.

But the real reason I’m writing is that you commented on my blog and this is the only way I can think of to write back. I wrote about Bollywood and aloo mutter — thanks for your kind comments. I took your suggestion and posted the aloo mutter recipe.

And you were right about the film I saw; it was Kal Ho Naa Ho. I’ve now seen and loved a couple of others. (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and 1942: A Love Story).

    Cheers!

Oh, postscript: my dog is a German Shepard, Rottweiler, Golden Retriever mix. A gentle giant.

  3. Interesting concept , but to be fair it’s not just America.Everytime I talk to any kid in India aged under 23 I’m always shocked at how critical they are of someone’s appearance, figure or what have you. It’s all about style w/no substance! Almost like that they’d be happy to give up some intellect for perfect features or killer figure.
