So, last night was the big night.
“Dinner with SRK” at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City.
My friends found it funny that, in spite of being a native New Yorker, it took Shah Rukh Khan to get me to visit the famous New Jersey shore-hugging locale for the first time in my life.
If you’ve never been either, here it is:
As you would expect, there was a lot of waiting around before his arrival (though this time, the star had a valid excuse for being late).
There were appetizers:
Hmmm, never heard of this one before:
But finally, after 90 minutes of warm-up acts, he was there:
Keeping order was a challenge:
Clearly, it had already been a long day for some:
There was a Mini Khan rushing the stage:
Can’t help but wonder if there was also a Rachel Ray effect in play at Newark Airport, if he traveled in this scarf:
After SRK departed, Mini Khan relaxed on the $75 doorstop Still Reading Khan:
This Mini is owned by the lovely Pebbles, a die-hard SRK fan from Philly who paid tribute to King Khan by wearing an Indian ensemble designed to call to mind Kajol’s engagement party outfit in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Pebbles cut quite a striking figure last night, and I predict you will be seeing her on AVS next Saturday:
Thanks for all the details and photos. 🙂
Lizzie, well, it’s one of those modern, thinner variations of the kafiya that have been selling on street stalls in lots of big cities for the past year or two, and they now come in a wider variety of colors. Last year, the TV chef Rachel Ray got into some hot water in the US because she was seen wearing one for an advert for Dunkin Donuts. I’m guessing that with SRK, much as Rachel Ray claimed, it was probably some stylist that got it for him. (“Karan, you got some ‘splaining to do…..”)
Virginia, no, never got to see the ocean at all, though you could smell it as we headed for the GSP under a crescent moon at almost 2am. Will have to go back another day and take a stroll on the boardwalk.
Great report!!
Did you see the ocean at all?
Is that a Palestinian scarf he is wearing?
