Here are some images from a concert the Bhutanese trio Druk Yul gave at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York.
The performance was preceded by an information-packed gallery tour, examining the thangkas at the museum, and various aspects of Bhutanese art.
The Rubin is a wonderful New York treasure, beautifully designed and laid out in the space that was once Barneys.
Aside from the several floors of Himalayan art, there’s also a cafe and theater and a fantastic gift shop containing some lovely items from South Asia. (I eye the cuddly stuffed yak toy every time I’m there, and they have an interesting selection of cards and books. Don’t even get me started on the clothes and home decor items…)
